Historically, the Home Buying Institute has avoided political topics unless they related to the real estate market in some way. But this year is different.
We consider the prospect of another Trump presidency to be a national emergency that requires “all hands on deck.” Donald Trump represents a direct threat to American democracy.
And there’s no denying the ever-growing mountain of evidence:
- Trump sent an angry mob to the U.S. Capitol and told them to “fight like hell.”
- He knew the crowd was armed and even wanted the metal detectors removed.
- He then proceeded to the White House and watched the ensuing chaos on TV.
- When told the mob was going after his own vice president, Trump said: “So what?”
- His staff and even his own daughter begged him to call off the rioters, but he refused.
- For well over an hour, he watched police officers being assaulted and did nothing.
- As a result of his actions, multiple people died and 174 police officers were injured.
- Trump has since praised the rioters as “warriors” and “unbelievable patriots.”
- He has a long history of inspiring violence and has never expressed remorse for it.
- He has pressured numerous election officials and asked them to “find” votes (his words).
- His team used fake electors to sign fake electoral certificates, claiming he won the vote.
- He has made thousands of false claims to manipulate and weaponize his followers.
- Trump uses fear tactics and dangerous lies to scare his followers into supporting him.
- He has been convicted of 34 felony crimes with dozens of additional charges pending.
- He has a long history of admiring and praising autocrats and wants to be one himself.
- He has expressed his desire to use the military against political rivals (U.S. citizens).
- Trump will do anything and harm anyone if he thinks it will help him stay in power.
For all of these reasons and more, Trump poses a threat to American democracy. Let’s keep this megalomaniac, convicted felon, and aspiring autocrat out of the White House.
