The HBI Reliable Content Promise

HBI empowers home buyers to make well-informed investment decisions and financing choices. We do this by delivering reliable and helpful content on a wide range of real estate topics.

We take extra steps to make sure that everything we publish is accurate, truthful, well-rounded, and written so that anyone can understand it. We also present as much supporting “evidence” as possible to support our explanations.

We only use trustworthy and authoritative sources of information when publishing our reports, articles and tutorials. These sources include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Official loan guidelines from FHA, VA, Freddie Mac, etc.
  • Mortgage rate trends and data reported by Freddie Mac
  • Information presented by state and local housing agencies
  • Home price data collected by Zillow, Realtor.com, etc.
  • Insights from knowledgeable economists and housing analysts

We do not, however, publish guidance based solely on anecdotal reports that cannot be substantiated with supporting data. And if we do publish content that is speculative in nature, like a housing market forecast based on an educated guess, it will be clearly labeled as such.

Our Independence: Your Advantage

HBI is a completely independent publisher, and ad-free for the most part. We are not affiliated with, nor do we receive compensation from, any real estate or mortgage company.

This independence allows us to focus solely on what matters most: providing you, the home buyer, with the most accurate and up-to-date information available.

(FYI: A lot of “educational” real estate websites are owned by companies that profit from the sale of homes or the origination of mortgage loans, which makes them less objective.)

Editorial Standards and Publishing Process

Our content is created and reviewed by a team of experienced professionals. Prior to publication, all of our content is edited and fact-checked by Brandon Cornett, founder and editor of HBI. Brandon has been researching and writing about real-estate-related topics for nearly 20 years.

While we occasionally use AI to simplify and expedite publishing tasks, we never give it “free rein” or let it inform our audience. Like other technologies, AI is a tool that requires close human oversight.

How to Submit a Correction

We are dedicated to delivering high-quality, factual content that helps our readers be more successful in their home-buying efforts. This mission requires us to publish content that is free from errors or inaccuracies, which is no small task.

Real estate trends, mortgage rules, and home-buying procedures can change and evolve over time. Knowing this, we conduct regular content audits to ensure that our content remains accurate.

If you find what you believe to be an error on our website and would like to report it, please send an email to editor@homebuyinginstitute.com.
